What is MAT?
MAT is a revolutionary approach to the assessment and correction of muscular imbalances in the human body. It is a straightforward drug-free, non-invasive technique with proven results. First, the MAT Specialist identifies restrictions in motion, joint instability, muscular tightness, compensation patterns and muscle weakness. Then, carefully designed MAT protocols are used to "jumpstart" the muscles to get them working the way they were intended to work.
Who can benefit from MAT?
Athletes, fitness enthusiasts, active and/or sedentary individuals who have experienced any of the following conditions can benefit from MAT.
-
Injury or pain in muscles and/or joints
-
Limitations in motion or flexibility
-
Impaired performance
-
Muscular weakness or tightness
MAT's goal is to restore function to anyone who wishes to move and play pain free!
Using this safe, powerful tool will assure there are no inhibitions, causing the body to compensate. Through the use of muscle testing, the therapist is able to check and recheck his work thereby eliminating imbalances throughout your body. MAT is successful because it allows the human body to heal itself. The human body is the ultimate healer, but unfortunately, will only heal when put into a position to do so.
"The biggest pharmacy is inside your own body which is actively writing prescriptions for you all the time. The enzymes and hormones throughout your physiology systems are in active communication all the time. Causing health is about synchronizing these patterns of communication throughout the body." Irving Dardik, MD,
former chair of the US Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Council.
When everything in your body is working properly, the pain and dysfunction will disappear.
If no great stress is put on the body then there is no need to compensate. The beauty of MAT is that we can check our work instantly. We know if what we are doing is holding. With each session we can quickly scan your body to see whether it is responding. With over 700 different muscles to test, we can go as deep as needed to correct and help you to the road of recovery.
Don't wait for your pain to overwhelm you, make the choice to start healing today!
A one-hour session of MAT includes:
Step One: Range Of Motion Evaluation
The specialist goes through a whole body scan to find the greatest range of motion discrepancies.
Step Two: Neuro-Proprioceptive Response Test (NPR test)
Muscle NPR test is performed at the muscle's shortest position or most mechanically efficient position of 90° force angle of the muscle. NPR tests evaluate whether there is proper neural input to the muscles that provide stability in the extreme of motion.
Step Three: Correction Process
MAT manual therapies are performed on the muscle attachment with a light cross friction pressure, or isometric contractions. The techniques help increase circulation and neurological input to the muscles, getting them to work properly again.
Step Four: Retest
Retesting the muscle locks in the neurological response. The specialist will continue to find and correct as many inhibitions as possible relating to your specific dysfunction.
